To be honest, I’m not a fan of glasses. I feel I look so weird wearing glasses because I (think) have the most difficult face shape in order to find a good one. However, my life was being mocked, my right eye has been being short-sighted after two year I ran my own business and had to use phone and laptop all day. Actually, it was not too bad but my doctor asked me to wear glasses when I study or work. Then you can guess that, I had no choice, but I could find a way. Finally, I found a good one after trying a hundred pair (I know it was ridiculous). I believe that many of you have the same problem as me, and I hope this post can help you somehow so you don’t have to try a hundred pair of glasses as me.
They key concept of finding the right glasses is the opposite attract. Select eyeglasses that contrast from your facial contours and bring symmetry and balance to your prominent features.
For instance, if you have a square face, you will need a pair of glasses with the round. On the contrary, if you have a round face, you should choose the square eyeglasses.
1. Square Faces

- Broad forehead with a strong, horizontal jawline.
- Proportional in width and length.
Frames to compliment face:
- Round or oval eyeglasses
- Dark or bold-colored frames
=> Divert away from and add contrast to strong facial features.

Frames to avoid:
- Most geometric and square shapes.
- Light-colored frames.
=> Don’t give your face too many angles

2. Oval Faces: are often referred to as the ideal face type because of the balanced proportions. In my country, in beauty contests, ladies with this face type usually have the big chance to win the crown. It is considered as a standard

- Lightly curved jawline that is a little narrower than the forehead.
- Cheekbones are high and angled.
- Most versatile face shape.
Frames to compliment face:
- Any styles – square or round frame shapes.
- Dark or light – colored frames

Frames to avoid:
- Oversized frames and shapes.
=> Don’t choose frames too large for facial features

3. Heart Faces

- Broad forehead that extends down to a small chin
- High and angled cheekbones
Frames to compliment face:
- Oval and round shaped glasses
- Thin, light-colored frames to balance narrow chins
=> Balance the width of your face

Frames to avoid:
- Top-heavy styles or decorative designs
- Drank frames
=> Don’t draw too much attention to upper face

4. Round Faces: I consider this type of face as “baby faces” because it can sometimes make a person appear younger than they are

- Full cheeks
- A wide forehead and a rounded chin
Frames to compliment face:
- Square or strong, angular frame shapes
=> Provide contrast to face.

Frame to avoid:
- Too small frames and short frames
- Round glasses
=> Frames that are wider than they are tall give the illusion of a slimmer face.

5. Diamond Faces: it is a charming type of face to me. People with this face usually look very special and attractive. However, it is also the rarest face type.

- Wide cheekbones and a narrow forehead.
- Angular jawlines
Frames to compliment face:
- Oval and rimless frames.
- Glasses with strong brow lines
=> Balance and enhance facial features

Frames to avoid:
- Very narrow or thin frames
=> Don’t draw unnecessary attention to your narrow eye line.
